How To By-Pass A RV Water Heater Text

Installing 3 way valves in the back of RV Water Heaters.

IMPORTANT! Be sure that the water in the plumbing system is completely turned off before cutting pipe and making a repair. This will make sure you don't make a huge, and watery mess.
1. Locate the back of the water heater
2. The water line closest to the floor is the cold water line. The waterline and closest to the ceiling is the hot water line
3. At a convenient location, where valves can be installed across from each other in the hot and cold water lines, cut through both the hot water line and the cold water line
4. Install a 3 way valve in the lower pipe with a handle easily accessible. This is done by sliding the Nut over the tubing, rocking the tubing on to the flared fitting on both ends, and tightening the nuts on the fitting. The center port of the valve should be facing toward the installation point of the second valve.
5. The second valve is installed in a similar manner. Note: the valve handles should be on the opposite side-of the tubing. That is, if the valve is facing to the right, the other Volve handle should be facing to the left
6. Finally, install a piece of tubing between the 2 Center ports of the the 3 way valves.
7. Be sure to support the tubing as local codes require.
8. That's it. You're done.
